“We loved it” was the general feedback we received from teachers and students after they came back from the Hidden Villa Farm Field Trip.

2nd, 3rd and some 1st graders spent a few hours to explore and reflect on the importance of the farm and wilderness to our urban environment. Turning (or pretending to turn) cow dung into a milkshake and finding useful critters in dirt as well as singing animal sound songs were some of the favorite activities for our students during the 2 hours presentation of environmentalists at Stonebrae.

A week later three coaches (sponsored by the PTA/Wellness and Nutrition committee) brought 180 students out to Hidden Villa Farm in Los Altos. Students were divided up in small groups and walked off with a docent and two parents to explore the secrets of a natural habitat. The last portion of the trip was a visit to the farm’s garden, harvesting and sampling freshly grown veggies… yes they tried them…, talking about compost, learning about the farm animals and my favorite... get up close, pet and hug a calf and a few days old baby goats.

Thank you families - This trip would not have been possible without parent contributions/fund raisers throughout the year.
