Mandarin Kindergarten Program |

Do you want your child to learn another language? Stonebrae
Elementary School implemented the
first kindergarten Mandarin dual language program in Hayward. We spend 50% of the day
in Mandarin and 50%
in English. In just a few weeks of
school the children are beginning to understand simple commands, write some
phonetic symbols and characters, and have a few poems memorized. The children are learning Mandarin through
lots of rhymes, poetry, actions, and other hands on activities. The goals are for the Kindergarteners to understand
some basic sentences, read and write short patterned sentences, and communicate
in Mandarin. If you are interested in
